I have used both, have had enormous snafus with both (GPS fails, drivers not showing up but saying en route & variations on customer service) and continue to use both because neither one is 100% reliable.
Today for example, I checked both apps like the stock market. Uber was a dollar less and the driver nearby. Lyft promised to arrive two minutes earlier but would cost more. Yet, it was the clusterfuck of available lyft drivers that made today's decision uber.
